Refund & Cancellation Policy
EFFECTIVE DATE: JANUARY 1, 2026 · LAST UPDATED: MAY 15, 2026
1. OVERVIEW
This Refund & Cancellation Policy ("Policy") describes the terms under which you may cancel your Kami subscription and the circumstances in which you may be eligible for a refund. This Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service.
Kami offers paid subscription plans ("Kami" at $9/month or $79/year, and "Kami Pro" at $19/month or $159/year) through our payment processor, Dodo Payments. All payments are processed securely by Dodo Payments; Kami does not store your payment card information.
2. FREE TIER (ECHO)
The Echo plan is completely free. No payment information is required. You may discontinue use at any time without any obligation.
3. SUBSCRIPTION CANCELLATION
You may cancel your subscription at any time through any of the following methods:
- Dashboard Billing Page: Navigate to your Kami dashboard, go to the Billing section, and use the "Cancel Subscription" button.
- Dodo Customer Portal: Click "Manage Billing" from the Billing page to access the Dodo Payments customer portal, where you can cancel directly.
- Contact Support: Email us at adarshjagannath777@gmail.com to request cancellation.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have access to your plan's paid features until the end of the period for which you have already paid. Your subscription will not auto-renew after cancellation.
Upon cancellation and expiry of your billing period, your account will automatically revert to the Echo (free) tier. You will not lose any data — all your conversations and memories remain on your device.
4. REFUNDS
4.1 General Policy
As a general principle, subscription payments are non-refundable. Because Kami's core functionality (AI model inference and data storage) runs entirely on your device at zero marginal cost to us, all subscription fees primarily support ongoing development, maintenance, and infrastructure costs that are incurred regardless of individual usage levels.
There are no refunds for partially used billing periods. If you cancel mid-cycle, you retain access until the end of the current period, but you will not receive a prorated refund for the remaining days.
4.2 Statutory Refund Rights (India)
Nothing in this Policy affects any statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws. In particular, if the Services are determined to be defective or not as described within the meaning of applicable consumer law, you may be entitled to remedies including a refund.
4.3 EU/UK 14-Day Right of Withdrawal
If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase under EU Directive 2011/83/EU and the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
However, by subscribing to Kami, you explicitly acknowledge and agree that: (a) the Services involve the supply of digital content not supplied on a tangible medium; (b) performance begins immediately upon purchase with your prior express consent; and (c) you thereby lose your right of withdrawal once performance has begun, in accordance with Article 16(m) of the EU Consumer Rights Directive and equivalent UK regulations.
4.4 Exceptional Circumstances
In exceptional circumstances, at our sole discretion, we may provide a refund on a case-by-case basis. Circumstances that may warrant consideration include:
- Duplicate charges resulting from billing errors;
- Technical issues that prevent you from accessing paid features for a substantial period of time, where we are unable to resolve the issue;
- Fraudulent or unauthorized charges (subject to verification).
To request a refund under exceptional circumstances, contact us at adarshjagannath777@gmail.com within 30 days of the charge in question. Include your account email, the date and amount of the charge, and a detailed explanation of the circumstances. We will review each request in good faith and respond within 10 business days.
4.5 Annual Plan Refunds
Annual subscriptions are billed upfront at a discounted rate compared to monthly billing. Cancellation of an annual plan takes effect at the end of the current annual period. No prorated refunds are provided for the remaining term of an annual subscription after cancellation, except as required by applicable law.
5. CHARGEBACKS AND DISPUTES
If you have a concern about a charge, please contact us first at adarshjagannath777@gmail.com before initiating a chargeback with your bank or payment card issuer. We will work in good faith to resolve your concern promptly. Initiation of a chargeback without first attempting to resolve the issue with us may result in immediate suspension of your account pending resolution.
6. PRICE CHANGES
Kami reserves the right to change subscription pricing at any time. If we change pricing for your subscription tier, we will provide you with at least 30 days' notice before the new pricing takes effect on your next renewal. If you do not agree to the new pricing, you may cancel your subscription before the renewal date. Continued use after the price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
7. DOWNGRADING YOUR PLAN
You may downgrade from Kami Pro to Kami, or from Kami to Echo, at any time from your Billing page. The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Until then, you retain access to your current plan's features. No prorated refunds are provided when downgrading.
When downgrading, your data (conversations and memories) is not affected — it remains on your device. However, features exclusive to higher-tier plans will become inaccessible once the downgrade takes effect.
